help with hdd on ecs 600l

hi there. i'm new here, just found this site on google while searching for a solution to my problem....

i did perform a search here, but found no results. hoping someone here might be able to offer some help.

i just purchased an ECS (elite computer systems) 600L laptop from one of my employees to replaces my old hp compaq nx6110.

on the ECS website they say that this laptop can support pata or sata drives.

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Pro...uID=59&LanID=0

on the above link, at the bottom it clearly says it supports serial ata, and shows the logo.

on the specifications link it says :

"Hard Drive 2.5" 9.5mm height, PATA or Serial ATA alternative support
"

in the manual it says it supports ata and sata dual support

so.... the laptop had 1gb of ram and an 80gb seagate drive.

i went to newegg and ordered 2gb of ram, and a new harddrive, since i am using this laptop to replace my existing laptop and desktop.

i ordered a 320 gb 5400rpm sata drive..

guess what.... when i opened the laptop. i only see a way of attaching an ata (ide) drive.

i see no way possible to attach a sata drive...

wondering if anyone has seen this before??

i can post pics of the inside if needed.

i have not opened the harddrive yet, so i can still return it to newegg if necessary.. just hoping i wont have too, since the best optins they have for ide are 160gb vs the 320 i was hoping for.

if anyone can offer some help that would be greatly appreciated.

if pics are needed, jsut let me know, i'll be happy to post them after i get back from my daughters soccer tryouts.

thanks!

Jay
