Both mouse and touchpad stopped working
My laptop is Acer Aspire 6920G, OS: Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32bit.
One day, my touchpad and usb mouse stopped working, I mean, i turned on my notebook, and and my mouse/touchpad was not moving, buttons did not work, nothing. not even on the windows logon screen. I looked into Device manager(i used my keyboard to get there...), my mouse is recognized as HID compliant mouse and my touchpad as Synaptics PS/2 port touchpad, but the touchpad has an exclamation mark on it and the error is The device cannot start(code 10). I tried disabling/enabling the device, uninstaling/instaling/reinstaling drivers. unpluging the mouse, pluging it in, restarting the coputer, taking the battery out... but i did not solve it, any ideas? |

Re: Both mouse and touchpad stopped working
UPDATE: I noticed that if i remove all the drivers and unplug the USB mouse, the touchpad is recognized as PS/2 compatible mouse with the same The device cannot start(code 10) error, maybe this can help you help me :) And no, Fn + F7 is not the problem. One more thing, i dont care if the touchpad will work or not, i use mouse all the time so this is not a problem.
I just downloaded some mouse emulator, so I can use my keyboard to control mouse pointer and it works, but this really is NOT a solution :) Last edited by Lakky; 12-08-2008 at 02:39 AM. |

Re: Both mouse and touchpad stopped working
Another update:
Well, i just found out that if I turn it on by pushing the Acer Arcade button, the Mouse and touchpad IS working, so my Mouse/touchpad is not broken. This must be software/driver problem or something.... Last edited by Lakky; 12-08-2008 at 04:45 AM. |
