A lot of problems

Hello,

Almost six months ago, I had noticed that my dual usb ports on my hp laptops were broken. I called hp to get the problems fixed but according to them my warranty had expired. So I was

, I then bought an external usb hub no problem. Now I've been experiencing problem with the labtop reguarly. Its giving me the message "power surge on usb port", that's one problem. My laptop completely freezes and shuts down all the way, and when it reboots it tells me to press F1 to continue with restarting because of the usb problem. I would like to buy another laptop but I don't like vista @ all. So what should I do, replace the motherboard or buy another laptop?

is the hub you are using a self powered one
