laptop problems
i have a HPcompaq laptop that when its switched on it goes through the motions of boot up but gets stuck. i have tried safe mode and no joy, also last known safe login and no joy. if left it goes through loading comes up with windows xp screen then goes back to safe mode, and boot options screen then repeats the process. please help

Hi Richard,
Try to run HDD Diagnostics first. Get Hitachi Drive Fitness Test or one that fits your brand of HDD (see HDD Diags link on my sig). If HDD is free of errors, pop in your XP install CD (retail) and do CHKDSK /R in Recovery Console. Post back what happens.
