Question Downgrading from Vista... Graphics Errors!

I recently got rid of vista, and put XP on my PC. Now, while I had Vista I could run games such as Counter-Strike and COD4 without problems, but now I get an error saying "Video Card or Driver doesnt support UBYTE4N vertex data". At first I thought it was a driver problem. I spent half the day looking for drivers, only to find the ones I had were already up to date. So I looked in DxDiag and found that my graphics memory had decreased. I did have "Approx. Total Memory: 340+mb" - cant remember the exact value and Ive lost my old DxDiag txt file. But now thats decreased to 256mb. I dont know if that has something to do with it, but I followed it up as far as I could. According to Intel the onboard graphics I have uses the system RAM as graphics memory, and with Vista I can have a max of 358MB and XP I can have 384MB. But, the manufacturor usually sets the amount to use(which is true in my case - i cant change it in the latest BIOS version).
Does anyone know how I can get my system to run these games again(which I could run while I had Vista; no changes in hardware), and how to increase my graphics memory?
My System Specs are:
Toshiba Satellite L300 (Model No. PSLB0A-08C022)
Chipset: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset
Processor: Intel Celeron (M? - not 100% sure) 550 @ ~2GHz
RAM: 2038MB
DX Version: 9.0c

All drivers are up to date, so far as I have been able to figure out.
If their needed, I have also included the DxDiag txt file and System Graphics Diag txt file as attatchments. Hopefully someone can help :S Thanks in Advanced
