Tecra 8100 not booting

HI, I played around with my Tecra 8100 laptop, it had Windows 2000pro on it, worked great.I got an error message at one point and somehow I ended up using a floppy I thought was a boot disk but it actually wiped out something (bios?)because now I get no boot. The first three green lights come on and then for a moment the green HD light comes on, then it goes off again. The screen stays black. When I turn the laptop off I get one longer beep and 29 short ones. The hard disk was tested in another Tecra 8100 and it works great. What did I do and how can I fix it and get it to boot again? I now have windows xp pro on the HD and I don't have any of the win 2000disks. I do have a Tecra 8100 win 98SE system and companion disk from another Tecra I had. I also have an XPpro disk. Can you help? Thank you, Anne

Re: Tecra 8100 not booting

Put the Xp cd in the drive and boot the comp.( laptops are usually set to boot to the cd drive) If it starts to install then just follow the screen prompts. The only question then is where you get the drivers for the laptop. Usually they are on a separate disc that comes with the machine. I looked on the Toshiba site and could only find this.

Re: Tecra 8100 not booting

I have just had a read up on your comp and it appears as though W2K has ALL the drivers on the installation disc? . It might be worth buying a W2K cd and using that. I saw one go on Ebay the other day quite cheap.
