Mistake Alienware Area 51m Laptop, Screen Problems

Hello,

I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, but here are the symptoms.

1. Laptop screen is completely blank, but there is power to the top half as the eye lights on the alien light up.

2. Does not work on an external screen.

Not sure what kind of diagnostics you can give me with this information, but I'm willing to answer questions with the little knowledge I have.

Hugs and Kisses,

Hi,

Does it boot up? Can you hear the fan spin or the HDD and CD drive initialize?

Re: Alienware Area 51m Laptop, Screen Problems

Not sure what happened to the original poster, but I am having the same issue with my alienware m51 5550. The system try to start and other times not at all (the fan will may or may not come on). If the screen comes up at all it usually takes about a half hour. On that note the screen has not shown a picture for quite a while now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am guessing it is either the video card or the screen.

Thanks

Re: Alienware Area 51m Laptop, Screen Problems

Hello, I have the same issue with my Alienware Area 51-m laptop. Issues are, laptop has power, boots fine with LED lamps showing and Fans, DVD and HD spin. I do not show a post or any other events on the screen. I have adjusted backlight with no change. I have also confirmed that the HD will boot fine in another laptop of the same model. Can anyone tell me other options in trouble shooting or how to purchase a replacment video card which is replacable if that is the issue.

Thank you in advance for your time and effort,
