re compaq presario v6001au

I have a laptop computor which is now 20 months old.I have come to use wireless on my computor only to find that my switch on the front does not turn on the light for wirelss from orange to blue.
It did used to work .I have never used wirelss on this computor
somebody told me that there was a problem with the wireless card being to close to the battery and so over heating.
does anyone have an idea if this is a problem with this model of laptop.
I do not want to pay money to get this repaired when my computor is not old bought in 2007 and i have never used wireless on it.

I had looked at this site but had not looked carefully enough to realise that my problems were listed .Unfortunately my computor is not listed as one of the product numbers that is entitled to a free repair but as i have two of the problems listed its more than coincidence so i am going to have to fight for a free repair.

Hi Harps,
Have you tried to diagnois your wireless card?
Do you see it in the device manager under Network Controllers?
Do you have any errors in the Device Manager (yellow! or red x)?
