Problem with Philips X57

I recently got this machine for my daughter & when I switch it on it only stays on for approx 20 seconds then switches itself off. WhenI go to switch it back on the power light flickers but nothing else happens. If I leave it for 1/2 hour it does the same again. I have tried a different PSU & Battery to no avail.

Any help towards fixing this or a pointer in the right direction would be really appreciated.

Re: Problem with Philips X57

Does the power light stay steady on and the hard drive light flicker?
Could be the display screen or the display inverter gone or going .
Sometimes if you look close there is a windows display but so dim/dark that its hard to see.

Hi
No the power light doesn't stay on at all & flickers occasionally.

Re: Problem with Philips X57

Then it's going into standby. Not sure why but try going inti bios on startup (try F2 or DEL or ESC. might flash up on screen.eg press F2 for setup) and see if there is an option for power management etc or a reset option.
Sounds though more like processor overheating (to little or too much thermal paste)
or faulty capacitor on motherboard (new board)
Hope someone else can suggest an answer ?

Bri.
