Weird Display Issue

I just turned on my laptop yesterday and ever since I have this weird display issue. Everywhere on my screen where it should display black my laptop displays a noisy, pulsating green. It even displays it when I access the bios the background which should be black is all noisy green. I updated the graphics card drivers and that made no difference. I also plugged the external output into a monitor and it displays fine on the external monitor. Every tech I talked to told me it is prob my inverter board for the lcd. I was wondering what your opinion was and if you have any idea of the cost involved. If its to expensive I will prob just buy a new laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated

it would be cheaper to replace the inverter
