Dell Inspiron B120 - Problem w/ Display circuitboard
Hi, all.
For awhile now, my Inspiron B120 laptop has been having a problem where the screen displays either a black screen with a few grey and white lines, or a strange turquoise-colored blob. If I tapped the screen for a bit, the image would pop up sooner or later, but the problem persisted. Eventually, I followed the instructions in the service manual and took apart the display and removed the LCD screen from the nest. After playing around a bit with some of the parts, I have located the problem to be with the circuit board at the top of the back-side screen. Depending on how my laptop is feeling, if I lightly tap or press the circuit board in the right spot, I will be fortunate, and the image will appear (although now it displays the image with all of the colors bright and over-saturated--a problem I did not have before, and is not related to the monitor settings), but this is far from being a permanent fix, because at other times, I am not so fortunate (Lappy is probably in an irritable mood). I am afraid of messing around with the circuit board, but it seems as if the problem is some kind of loose connection in there somewhere. I'd prefer to exhaust all of my options first, before considering replacement parts, or even a whole new laptop. Thanks. |
