A disk read error has occured
hey.
i have a compaq laptop with intel dual core processor. i have been using vista from a year. few days ago i was not able to boot any OS(vista and fedora).. so i formated my harddrive and reinstalled vista in it.... Yesterday when i started my PC it gives an message.. "A disk read has occured press CTRL + ALT + DEL to reboot" .....any reboot doesn't mae sense too.. so i thought of reinstalling vista again.....but i is giving me a blank screen after loading file("Windows is loading files").....i tried XP fedora also but same problem.... then i tried to boot from ubuntu live CD...but i m not able to do that also... it was giving me some error like "cant allocate block sda6 or something like that".. so I want to know what is the problem with my laptop... is it a HARDDISK problem or RAM or BIOS or CMOS battery or anything else... please help me.. |

Re: A disk read error has occured
it probably needs a driver to be loaded with f6 when it asks during the inicial load into ram
so when it does the first reboot it can find the hard drive normally vista would have the driver maybe because it is a laptop set the sata as ide in the bios

Re: A disk read error has occured
you put it on floppy and when it ask if you wish to load a third party driver you put the disk in and it will go on from there
did you check that sata is set as ide in the bios
