cant get CD/DVD drive to open

Hi. I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC, with windows Vista operating system. The CD/DVD drive will not open. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the device, to no avail. When i push the manual button to open the drive (on the side of the laptop), a green light comes on for a while (as if the computer is trying to respond) but the door does not open. Any help or advice that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Look at the front panel of the drive. There should be a hole. Insert a paper clip in the hole.
