toshiba l40

hi, I have a toshiba l40, and it only works plugged in to the charger,if its not after 2 min friezes and then crashes completely , i've tryed to chage the battery but didn't work,don't know what to do hope you can help me

thanks for the reply, well I bought a brand new battery for it I it didnt work, the laptop still crashes after 2-3 min

Just to rule out other possible causes, run HDD diagnostics to test your HDD and run Memtest86+ to test your RAM (see d/load links on my sig). If these rule out you could be looking at a malfunctioning motherboard or a power board if there is one (assuming your batteries are tested good).
