CD/DVD Drive missing in dievice manager Labtop Hp Pavillion dv2700

Dvd/cd drive went missing. Doesnt show on device manager either. Light flashes when disc is inserted but nothing loads up(auto play).

Try deleting upper/lower filters... or you can use CDGONE.reg (Google d/load site).

ok that worked for a min but now its not working....

I do not know what you mean exactly as 'it's not working'. I am assuming it is again missing in Device Manager. I suggest you boot using a bootable CD/DVD media like a linux live CD or BartPE XP. If it boots well with the CD/DVD drive then you can say the drive is working (as it was able to read the media). You can now focus on your Windows where you can do a repair or a reinstall or update.

still cant get it working it works when you put a program disc in that has autorun....please help cant afford to lose my data doing a restore....

you don't that's advice for a desk top not a laptop
you may have a bad contact on the back of the drive
removing it and putting it back will sometimes be enough to make a good contact
