Installed RAM into laptop and is non functioning

I purchased two Kingston 1GB DDR2 SODIMM sticks of RAM for my Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 and installed them this morning but they do not work. When I turn the computer on it makes the normal sounds of starting up but then nothing happens and the screen stays black. I returned the original two 512MB sticks and it starts up just fine but when I replaced the 1GB sticks again same black nothingness. The operating system is Vista if that makes any difference. Any help to get the 1GB sticks to work would be appreciated.

Hi Larsia
What is the make and model number of your new RAM (Kingston) you may havt the wrong RAM.
Toshiba states this model will support up to 2GB PC4200 DDR2 SDRAM.

Re: Installed RAM into laptop and is non functioning

I believe the model of the ram is KTT533D2/1G

I used the check on the Kingston site for the proper RAM for my computer and thats what it told me was supposed to go in my laptop. Also when searched on the Toshiba site it recommended this same RAM as well.

Hi,
The RAM appears to be correct.
You may have a faulty Ram stick.
Does the laptop Boot up if you install 1 stick. If so repeat the process with the other stick.

Re: Installed RAM into laptop and is non functioning

I tried that and found out that one stick boots fine but the other does not.

Hi,
So it appears you have 1 bad stick of RAM.
I would return it for a replacement.
