Has the answer been found? I have the same problem. Toshiba Satellite M45 S331 PSM40U-01R001 will not power on and no boot up.
Normally when I push the power button it turns blue and then the computer boots up. Now the power button turns blue for about 5 seconds and I hear/see the fan start to work but then the computer just shuts off. There is no screen display, no evidence of bios startup. I have tried to start the computer with on AC power adapter with the battery removed, on battery only (no AC adapter), with both battery and AC adapter connected, after the battery has charged over night, with the hard drive removed, wireless card removed, RAM (on bottom side of motherboard) removed and DVD drive removed. I removed the CPU heat sink and it is clean. A technician I know said he thinks a chip on the motherboard is bad. Any ideas ? Does this laptop need the battery installed to work? And if so, could a bad battery cause this? |

Re: Problems with Toshiba Satellite M45-s331
If you have removed CPU and heatsink make sure you reapply thermal compound. Also try using new/good/working RAM sticks instead of the ones you have installed (for testing only).
Also remove the battery and unplug AC adapter. Press and HOLD Power ON button for 30secs. at least. Put back the battery and plug back the AC adapter. Power ON as normal.

Re: Problems with Toshiba Satellite M45-s331
Thanks for the update. That was the second part of my previous thread.. have you done the first part?
... replacing all the RAM with good/working modules.
