Dell laptop ISSUES

I have a DELL E1505. There are 4 profiles on it. When I start up laptop, after waiting a LOOONNNG time for the profile menu, I select one and the screen does not show start menu at bottom. I can't get any applications to start from the icons as well.

I am not sure what caused this issue, but was hoping that someone could tellme how to troubleshoot ar start at a previouse configuration in a different point in time. I don't want to lose any info, lots of pictures, s anty help would be appreciated.

I have been getting a screen with columns in th emiddle of working n the computer for about 1 month now, but whe I restart it, it has been fine. ANy ideas what could be the problem?
