New battery won't charge on Inspiron 6000

I have a inspiron 6000. The battery stop charging. I bought a new one and still have the same problem. The laptop is operational and works with direct power. Any suggestions as to why the battery won't charge.

Thanks

Re: New battery won't charge on Inspiron 6000

I have in my store an inspiron 6000 laptop that a customer spilled liquid into and ruined the motherboard. The battery was also dead. I replaced the motherboard in this, and the system worked fine. I then put a new battery in, but it would not charge. In this case, the issue was that the ac adapter got some corrosion in it, and was no longer recognized as being a dell ac adapter. The laptop will run fine off the adapter, but just won't charge the battery. A new adapter got it charging again. Now, to know if this is your computer's problem, just restart the computer and go into BIOS. There is a section that tells about the adapter. It will tell you if it is a Dell adapter or not. If not, then there's the problem. Now, if it does recognize the adapter as being a genuine dell adapter, you most likely have a motherboard problem there. So hope for the adapter! :)
