laptop dims

when i unplug my power adapter, my computer dims when i run it on battery. i have a dell inspiron 6000. when i go look my battery is at a 100% and it has the time it will die which is 3hrs and 31minutes.

Ok, it seems like your computer is set to run on a lower power setting to preserve battery when the power is unplugged, therefore the screen dims in brightness. All laptops are like that by default, however this can be changed. But be advised, this will consume more battery power if you wish for the screen to stay just as bright when the power cable is unplugged.

Follow these steps...
Start > Control Panel > (If your using category view, click on Performance & Maintenance > Power Options) (If Classic > Power Options).

And from there you can change the setting!

To increase brightness without changing any windows settings, hold down the function key ( Fn ) and press the up arrow. The Fn key is near the bottom left of your keyboard and that is marked in blue. While holding that key down, it activates the blue symbols on other keys.
