Re: external monitor
I do not quite understand what you mean by not meeting minimum requirements. My previous post seem to answer your initial inquiry about a PCMCIA video card. And according to this:
http://www.shopping.com/xPF-Hewlett-...us-Notebook-Pc ... your laptop has PCMCIA card slot. See related products: http://www.svideo.com/dvi.html

Re: external monitor
my syst prop reads this (attached photo) 797 MHz but the link you sent me says 2GHz and the card requires 1.2 GHz. And there's the cost issue thats more than half the price of a new computer.

Re: external monitor
That is strange... you have an Athlon 3200+ processor which I believe is capable of giving out 2GHz at least but your OS is not showing that at all.
As for the price, that is definitely another problem if you want to go PCMCIA. But that sure answers your inquiry in your first post. I think you may need an adapter like this one: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re.../dp/B0000932AE You may need gender changer too (see bottom of page of linked site).

Re: external monitor
The only problem with going from VGA to DVI is your not going to get the quality of a DVI only cord, it'll be the quality of the vga one. Some of the pins are gone on the DVI side of the cord so the only solution to be using DVI is to buy that overpriced PCMCIA card......
I would just use the vga out from that laptop to like if you do need it just buy a little adapter for a DVI input http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814998101 |

Re: external monitor
ok the reason i want to go dvi is because i have an older 60" rear projection HDTV that has a DVI input without a RGB interface. the laptop has a s-video out with only 480 lines of resolution (crappy) not enough to read print. the cheapest solution i found was around $70 for a usb to dvi but it requires i bit more horsepower than i have. then i got to thinking my problem is i need digital video from my laptop. not have my laptop convert a hi-res rgb signal to digital. then i realized the lcd on my laptop recieves digital. lcd panels native interface is digital. the 40 pin plug on the motherboard that feeds my screen must have a digital signal in it. just as you can buy a cable to convert HDMI to DVI and vise versa. can,t this motherboard lcd connector be converted? this is why i want a pin out for this plug. can anyone help?
