Re: can i???

I believe the CPX has its own recovery CD. The right and legal way (as most recovery CDs I know have operating systems in them) is to use the CPX recovery CD for your laptop.

Re: can i???

of course i don't want to do anything illegal...i didn't really consider that. the thing is, i just spent 100.00 buyer the adapter to turn the lap top on and i had previously spent 60.00 purchasing the discs for my desktop. i am a disabled mother of 3 young kids, so money is rather limited, so i was looking for the cheapest, most effective way to get this laptop up and running. thanks for your advise!

Re: can i???

I recommend that you talk to DELL about CPX recovery CDs. Try eBay as they might be for sale there for cheap. I know IBM recovery CDs for Thinkpads are for sale there for like $30 or less... so I think the DELL ones would cost you around the same.

To answer your question previously.... I really doubt if it would work because recovery CDs are tailored for the specific model they are for... but then again I may be wrong.
