my computer not booting

Hi, I have Compac Laptop model C300. First of all my computer failed to boot (in all modes i.e safe mode, last known good configuration,normal etc.). Later when i tried to boot from a bootable cd and tried to repair or install XP again, computer said that it did not found any hard disk or hard disk is not properly connected.
However, when i ran a partition magic programme, it is reading my hard disk listing its folder and files. I removed its hard disk and cleaned it and fixed it again but problem persists. Kindly help..

hi,
this problem is becaus of incompatiable HDD ditection while OS installation. go to BIOS and disable the RAID Disk option, then re install again.. if problem presist then disable the SATA controller inside BIOS. and after installation dont rechange it..
