Random BSODs, freezes, restarts and booting problems... 64-bit

I'm having many of the same symptoms as you mentioned in your past couple of postings. I also downloaded an updated driver from Realtek, just before all he** broke loose. Unfortunately, I have not found an answer to the problem, and I am locked out of my system, except in SAFEMODE, and I don't really even trust it, then.

what are you running
video card
cpu
m/board
ram
power supply
brand

check the listings in the bios for voltages and tempretures and post them

it would indicate a driver or a ptrogram i startup

check the device manager for any yellow alongside of anything

check the event viewer

Re: Random BSODs, freezes, restarts and booting problems... 64-bit

I don't know how the thread split up, but for new readers, this is the original thread: http://www.techsupportforum.com/micr...ms-64-bit.html

I have mentioned some of the hardware before. I can't check now since the PC began having problems again, when I was writing on the PC in Opera. I will post you the information as soon as possible. But can you please give me information about how I can gather all the info you need?

Before the PC got problems again I was in the device manager. It did show a warning listed under "Other devices" and named "Unknown device". No information about what device it could be was given. I unplugged the only thing connected, my USB mouse, to see if that solved the problem. Device manager updated, but the error was still there.

I have checked the event viewer and it shows a lot of errors or warnings at some times. I could export a file to you maybe? The problem is that it's written in norwegian, so you probarbly won't understand. Is there any way I can change the language in the event viewer to english?

I did receive a tip from another one today btw. To disable DEP because it's known to cause problems for some installations of Vista 64-bit. After I had disabled it I restarted the computer. When it was loading the desktop after the restart the screen turned black and the computer didn't react. No unexpected restart occured so I had to force it off.

When turning off and on again 10-15 minutes after the black screen came it didn't boot at all. I had to force it off again and then turned it on. Still a black screen.

I now unplugged the headset and USB-mouse plugged to the PC. But also this time no boot-up. Still a black screen, doing nothing. Even when waiting 15 minutes +/-.

I forced it off again and this time also took out the battery, now the computer booted up as usual again. It may be a coincidence, because 3 hours later when writing an reply to this thread in Opera, the system froze. I can't do anything. It's not responding at all. It was like that in 10 minutes before I forced it off.

Now it's back to the earlier problem, only a black screen no boot up. Have to force it off.

Unplugging the usb-mouse again, turning it on. Still a black screen ...

EDIT: I once more tried to boot up, but only a black screen.

I will try to find out more etc. when the PC is working again...

[I don't know how the thread split up]

you would have received a private message when the thread was split about hijacking threads

tap f8 when booting and from the options try
last known good configuration

do you know what video card is in it
take the side off and look at the power supply label for the details

Re: Random BSODs, freezes, restarts and booting problems... 64-bit

I think I will lose the guarantee if I open up the notebook.

But this is written underneath the notebook, I think it has someting to do with the power supply:
Rated 18.5 - 19V - 4.7 A Max

Video card:
WSXGA+ 1680x1050 ZBD + NVIDIAŽ 9600M GT 512MB GDDR3

Btw. I had a lot of trouble last night. I tried 10+ times and every time it got a black screen. It didn't boot at all. So I had to force it off every time. So I changed position to the kitchen and then it worked. It may be a coincidence, but could it be something about the outlet in my room? But that would be weird, because I had the problems at a friends house too. I actually played Medieval 2: Total War yesterday on the kitchen without problems for 3-4 hours and shut down the computer as normal. These problems are so random

As mentioned before, it's a notebook. Zepto Mythos A15

Re: Random BSODs, freezes, restarts and booting problems... 64-bit

i was giving you instructions for a desktop i cannot see a previous mention of it being a laptop
if it does not start ok every time you go into safe mode it would indicate a h/ware problem
in that case make a warranty claim on it

Re: Random BSODs, freezes, restarts and booting problems... 64-bit

Hello again. I thought I've made it clear earlier that it was a laptop. I'm sorry. So what you are suggesting is that I claim my money back, that I am given a new PC from the same company or send it to repair once more?

I haven't had any new problems the last days when sitting on the kitchen, I actually haven't moved the PC in the time period either. But is that normal when it's hardware problems? So much problems on and off?

Re: Random BSODs, freezes, restarts and booting problems... 64-bit

Got new problems today btw. An unexpected restart while I was writing in word and then it wouldn't boot up. This time I just gave after 3 tries to get it functioning again. Someone said to me that it might help turning off something called Speedstep. What is it, and how do I do that? Is it possible that it will help?

Re: Random BSODs, freezes, restarts and booting problems... 64-bit

you will find it in the bios
when it goes off wait half an hour before trying to restart it
if it then starts first try,it would indicate a probable heat problem, are you using it on a flat hard surface

Re: Random BSODs, freezes, restarts and booting problems... 64-bit

Hi dai. I personally don't think it can be an overheating issue, my reasons is that I've several times, even after repair, been able to play games for several hours without problems, and there is many sessions I haven't played at all and haven't done any hard working tasks, and still it get some sort of problem. I've got more problems when not playing, than when playing.

I have also tried what you suggested above a few times, and it isn't necessarily helping. I have written down all the times my PC have had problems on papers and one time I did write:
13:07: Black screen, wont boot up. Turning off and will try later
14:15: Black screen, wont boot up.

It is placed on a flat surface.

I did make an answer to jcgriff2 in the other thread btw. http://www.techsupportforum.com/micr...ml#post1800707
