HP Pavilion dv4269us random power failure

I have a HP Pavilion dv4269us that continues to power itself off after being on from anywhere from 5mins to 30mins.

The system does not go through a bootdown process, it just turns right off. It doesn't go into stand-by or hibernation. It powers completely down. The power cable is plugged in and the system never switches over to battery prior to shutting off.

The fan continues to run, however right around the fan area and to the side of the AC plug-in it gets really hot in that one spot.

I now have it booted into the BIOS settings and it still has yet to shutoff....so not sure if this means there is not enough processing to over heat while in BIOS or if the problem lies on the O/S.

Re: HP Pavilion dv4269us random power failure

If you can still boot into Windows try using NHC or SpeedFan. They will give you an idea of the temps. At the moment you can check the vents and fan areas for any obstruction. Clean those areas using an air compressor or similar to get the dust out. Also when in use, make sure those areas do not get (accidentally) covered by anything (like when placed on the bed or a carpeted floor or on a table with table cloth).
