shift key doesnt work

on my dell latitude c610 neither of the shift keys will work, im thinking its something to do with one of the drivers, any other suggestions

Two things to help you find out... try a linux live CD. If it works there, it could be drivers. Also try an external keyboard.

ive narrowed it down to being the driver. which one do i need to download again

Wait... keyboard drivers? Hmmm, honestly I think I may have mistaken as the keyboard may not need drivers especially for laptops. Anyways, have you tried linux live CD yet?

yea, i have, it works under linux os, but i dont know what else to do i mean it may be something hardware.

Yep, I agree it may be hardware. If that is the case you may need to try another keyboard.
