Cry Computer won't boot

Hi right now my Gateway Laptop has a problem. At first it just started randomly freezing, could be after a 2 hours could be after 5 minutes and i would have to press the power button to reboot it. now it won't even boot the screen just stays all black. I know this is pretty vague but if any one has any idea what is going on it would help alot.

What do you sit it on when using it?

When you power ON (even nothing comes up on screen), do you see any sign of life (LEDs light up, fan spins, HDD/CD activity)? Try with an external monitor too.

Everything powers on and stuff ill try an external monitor. But idk if that would explain the freezing.

Re: Computer won't boot

I asked where you put it when using it, as it takes nothing to cover a vent. Laptops are sooooo cramped inside, they are on the edge of overheating easily.
There should be more vents on the back than the front edge, try angling the base, so the back is higher, it should allow more heat to escape. Also, rest it on a hard, smooth surface.

The freezing may have been a symptom of a dying video chip... now you have no screen - a possible result.

Re: Computer won't boot

Did you try an external monitor? When it does boot up, do you get anything on the LCD?
