Viglen Dossier - no power- how to open case?
Hi all,
My partner's Viglen Dossier M55N laptop, (that I bought for her xmas before last, ie 22 months old) is dead. I tried an alternative PSU and nothing. The power connection in the case feels loose. If i could open the case I could check if the solder connection to the motherboard is cracked, and <possibly> resolder it, if the problem is that simple. (otherwise repair and postage to Uk from Ireland is likely to cost about £200/£300) Both of us are broke at the moment, so both repair & replacement are out. However I have no idea how to get a look at the connector. I've taken about 20 screws off the bottom with still no sign of being able to open. I can't see how to even get the keyboard off either though I'm usually ok at getting things open. Any suggestions? Help really appreciated. regards Donal |

Re: Viglen Dossier - no power- how to open case?
Yes, the problem is most likely the AC jack on the motherboard. It's a $5 part.
I doubt anyone will be able to provide you specific instructions on dismanteling your laptop - I for one have never heard of the name, but your best bet is to look on the web for instructions or keep doing what your doing by removing screws. I too am struggling with a motherboard and the amount of junk you need to remove to get at most of the motherboard is insane. Good luck - it can be a cheap repair. Check eBay for the part and or repair options in your area. |
