Speeding up a Toshiba A105-S4547 with Windows Vista
I was just wondering if anyone might happen to know of any ways in which to speed up a Toshiba A105-S-4547 with windows Vista on it.

Re: Speeding up a Toshiba A105-S4547 with Windows Vista
From what I have found that particular machine comes with 1 GB of RAM. I would recommend upgrading to at least 2 GB of RAM, but no more than 4 GB if you are running a 32-bit edition of Vista.

Re: Speeding up a Toshiba A105-S4547 with Windows Vista
It did come with 1 GB of ram, but since then I have upgraded it to 2.5 GB and pretty soon it will be at the maximum of 4 GB as that is the maximum that this motherboard can handle, but I still think that it is acting a little on the slow side and I am not sure as to anything that I can do within the operating system that will help to speed things up.
Any suggestions outside of upgrading the hardware. |

Re: Speeding up a Toshiba A105-S4547 with Windows Vista
It's difficult to say specifically at the moment for sure, but I think that there may be some issues with the operating system that is causing everything else to run a little on the slow side.
I am expecting an additional memory chip to arrive on Monday the 3rd and I am hoping that once I install that chip that it will help to make things just a little faster, but I still think that there may be something within the operating system that is causing the entire computer to slow down and at the moment I am just not quite sure as to where to look to find out if there is anything that I can do to tweak the operating system so that it is running at it's peak performance. Do you have any suggestions as to what I can look at that may help to speed up and tweak the operating system so that it is running at it's peak performance without having to completely wipe out the operating system and to reinstall the whole operating system? I know that in Windows 95 and 98 one thing that tended to help was to clear out the temp folder, but unfortunately I am just not very familiar with all of the intracies of Windows Vista as of yet. The last operating system that I tended to really get to know even remotely well was Windows 2000, but even then I still did not know everything about it. I have done internet technical support in the past and I am A+, I-net+, and network+ certified, but it has been a while since I have really kept up to date with things because I have been out driving truck over the road since 2002 and quite frankly I am sick and tired of that lifestyle and that is why I figure that it is best for me to upgrade all of my computer skills and to mix that with business so that I can not only be a lot more productive in my personal life, but so that I can also be a lot more productive and caught up professionally as well. I'm not sure as to how far I will go with computers because at one time I did spend a lot of time trying to get certified and to try to find a job within the IT industry, but unfortunately by the time I was able to get some of my certifications I could not find any company that wanted to hire me because I did not and still don't have my college degree and while I still want to get caught up with computers, I just don't want it to consume me like it did before to the point where I have absolutely no social life whatsoever. I'm not sure if that will make sense to you, but I hope that it does because I have been there and done that and am currently hoping to move on to bigger and better things. |
