New Notebook Hard Drive Died - Why? What Next?

Hi,

My notebook is only a few months old. Here's the specs and summary of what happened:

Windows Vista Home Premium
Western Digital Scorpio WD3200BEVT Hard Drive, 320 GB capacity, from a New Dell XPS M1530 Notebook, Serial ATA Hard Drive, Interface SATA, RPM 5400
Black screen saying no bootable devices, BIOS did not detect HD, no clicking or other sounds.
Need JPEG and PSD files recovered.
Took it to a few local places, they said it had no visible outer physical damage, but BIOS would not detect HD.
Hours before the crash/death:
I was at my husband's office. I was using an ethernet connection to their network. The company IT guy made some changes to their network to block me from accessing the company files, and just have access to the internet only.

Could that have done something to my computer? I surfed the internet for a few hours after he made those changes to the network. Then I went home, booted up again and got the black screen with the "no bootable devices" error message. The BIOS did not detect my HD.

Any ideas why this happened on a new notebook/HD?

Do you know of any "clean room" data recovery services who have a flat rate less than $900?

Thanks in advance.
