Cry lap top crashed, won't re boot :(

Hi,
I've just been on my lap top and it's just completly frooze. i have tried to reboot but it won't start up. It goes onto the windows load up page, then a screen quickly flashes up. The screen appears and disappears so fast i can't have time to read it. i think it says something like unrecognisable/highly expansible/unrecordable memory or something. When this screen goes, the computer shuts off and then trys to boot up again.
Safe mode won't boot up either and i've tried to do a hard drive scan and it comes back with "failure 5"
I've tried to look for an answer on the net but most say to reinstall xp, but i can't if it won't boot up.
can anyone pls help as i've loads of work on laptop and need it for essential work :-(
Thanks, Rachel xx

Re: lap top crashed, won't re boot :(

Some laptops won't boot into Safemode as per a Desktop. Safemode might need to be enabled from inside the Bios. Ifso, it has to be disabled afterwards or the laptop will just keep going into Safemode.
Do you know anyone who has a Linux Live Cd. This would at least tell you if the drive was Ok?
Some laptops have a reset hole on the underside.

Well it is not the end... you can always replace the hard drive.
