new laptop old printer

I just got a new dell OptiPlex GX280 which is not compatible with my printer is a HP Color LaserJet 4550. My job entails a lot of color & printing although my organization is gearing towards network printing...so they routed my printjobs to the network printer but I still have this old but very nice and EVER so stable HPLJ 4550...is there any way to make this work?

Thanks for any advice!

Re: new laptop old printer

I am sorry to say this but if you say it is not compatible then it is near impossible to make that work. An idea comes to mind is if you connect the printer to a PC and from that PC, share the printer with the laptop (considering they are on the same network).

Re: new laptop old printer

Thanks for the thoughts...I did have that epiphany last night that I could just hook the old printer to my neighbor's pc - we're on the same network and in the same "office" group so that would work, plus his printer is a PIECE so it works doubly well!
have a good day!

Re: new laptop old printer

If the incompatibility is hardware then hooking it up on a compatible desktop and sharing it would help as long as the printer driver is supported in your laptop.
