Is my Hard Drive shot? - Toshiba P35
I think my hard drive is messed up. Just checking to see if I'm misdiagnosing it.
Yesterday I was using the computer without the AC power. The battery was running out so I closed the cover, went home and plugged in the AC. When I opened the laptop, there was nothing on the screen and it wouldn't come on. Tried hitting ESC like I usually do and nothing. The only thing on was the blue power button. I had to hold the power button for few seconds before it would turn off. When I press the power button, I hear the fans for about 3-4 seconds then they turn off. Under the power button, the indicator light for the hard drive, which usually is lit up, doesn't light at all. I've tried taking the battery out for a while and restarting. Nothing. I let the battery recharge fully and tried starting again, Nothing. So, seems like the HD is shot, but before I take it to the shop and spend any money I wanted to see if I'm missing something. Try booting from CD/DVD drive using a bootable CD/DVD media. Remove the HDD just to be sure.
