Resolution problem

I own a dell laptop that has a bug or something. The problem is that the resolution is rediculously big and you can't see anything on normal windows. I tried all the standard things I could think of like system restore and others and they didn't work. I can't log on to normal windows unless I use a system restore, and then resolution is still huge. I tried right clicking and using properties but the window won't scroll down enough to get to it.(I use windowsxp)

If you can, Click, Start,control panel, display.
If no try Safe mode.

I tried safe mode, like adjusting the resolution there but it still didn't work!

Are you OK with doing a fresh install? It seems you tried already but you used a restore/recovery CD. Did this CD come from manufacturer of laptop or did you create this yourself? I am asking because you might want to try a fresh install using an XP install CD and not a restore/recovery CD.
