Re: boot problem, with a averatec labtop
In the BIOS (setup) you should see Primary Master (harddrive) and the size of the drive.
I am just trying to determine if the HD is any good. If the BIOS does not detect it neither will XP What is the exact make and model of this laptop? Bill |

Re: boot problem, with a averatec labtop
A computer will go into the BIOS (setup) even if there is no HD installed or is bad.
To enter the BIOS you have to press the DEL key upon bootup. Here is a link to your owners manual: http://compreviews.about.com/gi/dyna...re/manuals.asp Select Support>Manuals Select Laptops under category Select your model Averatec 3150 Download the PDF file. Chapter 5 will tell you how to enter the BIOS (Setup) Select Auto Detect Harddrive and see if the BIOS detects it. Bill |

Re: boot problem, with a averatec labtop
Hmm,
The owner of this laptop does not know the password? He/she also does not have the disk? Something is a little fishy. Bill |
