Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
according to my research, if you can't find it anywhere on the case. hit f10 at boot to enter bios and the model number should be there. I don't know where but should be on main page. exit without it saving. once you have found the model number, go here.

Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
We have to look for a driver for win2000 correct?
We need your model # so we can search to see what video card is in the system. I doubt that HP will list a driver for Win 2000, but once we can identify your video card we may beable to locate a Win2000 driver. Do you have your model #? |

Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
Lets try it this way. download and install Belarc advisor. http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
do you have a way to get it to your compaq? you will have to do that anyway when we find your model number, to load your graphics driver. when you install belarc, it will load, click no at the first question. you will see system model number at top right.

Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
Did the Belarc report state the Video Driver (Make)?
The D500 has 4 models. On this link you will see four systems: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...ftwareCategory Search through the 4 to match your system (they have pictures). They all have Video (Graphics) drivers for win2000. Thanks, Bill |

Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
Go to the display panel
Start>Control Panel>Display (apperance and themes)>Settings Tab. See if you can increase your resolution and color settings to a higher setting (256bit,16bit,32bit) |
