Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
Can you tell us what it says in your Belarc Report under Video Adapters?
Thanks, Bill |

Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
The fact that it is reading your flash drive tells me that the chipset is installed. you told us that all your belarc report said is Nividia. We have tried those. just to be sure. I have choosen your language and windows 2000. run the chipset install and let us know if it said already installed.

Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
Hi Niklas T,
Thank you for PM the Everest report. You video card is a nVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 (Creative 3D Blaster Annihilator 2 MX) Video Adapter According to the report the drivers we have tried should have worked. That being said, I want you to do the following. Shut down your PC and reboot. Upon reboot, go into your BIOS (setup) and select the default or optimal settings, SAVE and exit. NOTE: If you do not have these options look for something to do with the Video and besure AGP is enabled. You report states that it is disabled. Let the PC reboot to win2000 Check to see if you can increase your resolution. If not Download and install this driver: http://www.soft32.com/download_184815.html Lets see if that resolves the issue. I have also attached the report so others helping can view it. Thanks, Bill |

Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
HI Niklas T.
The SETUP option (F10) when you first boot up the PC is your BIOS. Here is how to use the setup feature: http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/d.../c01127195.pdf Hope this helps. Bill |

Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
Restart the PC and continously tap on the F10 key BEFORE it goes into loading windows.
(at the COMPAQ Splash screen). Bill |

Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
Check the connections or the keyboard.
Shut off the PC and double check your connections. There is a chance that the keyboard is faulty. When I say F10 key, this does not mean press F and then 1,0. On the keyboard above the MAIN Keys, you should see F1 through F12, You need to press F10 key during bootup to get to the Setup program. Bill |

Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
your keyboard could have a f lock key. look for it at the top of your keyboard. if it does, hit it so the light goes on above it. make sure that light is on when you are hitting f10 at compaq splash screen. once we get you into bios we will explain what to do.

Re: Windows 2000 stuck in 16 colors! Help!
Did it get a screen similar to this (see attachment)
If your PC is showing your desktop then you did not go to the BIOS. Bill |
