HP Graphic or display Trouble
Hello! Lately i've seemed to have a quite annoying problem with my HP Dv9000 Labtop, what happens is this: At any random time, (haven't seemed to find pattern in it's occurency yet) My labtop suddenly gets purple stripes horizontally downwards on the entire screen, everything stops to work and after about 20 seconds the display goes black, and everything stops working (the computer remains on however)
When i turn it back on it sometimes goes into a 640x 420x resulution state where it comes to windows boot screen and then into bluescreen and turns itself off. Or I'm lucky and get a normal resulution and get all the way too "Chose startup mode, Safe mode, last current working settings, etc" But it still won't boot. So what i've been doing is when it boots in normal resulution i go into boot/bios settings menu and perform a complete system Check! And miraculesly after that it works fine again for an unpredictable amount of time, it varies between minutes hours and days. So I'm wondering if anyone at all have any suggestions to what i can do to solve this or if anyone had any simular experiences?? Please help, i'm a desperate student without money who need my labtop to turn in my works!!! Also here is some backround info, and stuff i've tried out * Deleted display drivers and reinstalled * updated bios from HP webpage * Updated windows * changing resulution None worked PS. I've recently moved from Norway to england which means there had been a change in Power supply, I still use the same powercables, but i attach a little thingy( converter or something) on it so it fits into their electrical sockets! (from two vertical "pins" to 3 pins in a triangle shape) I don't know if this mathers, and i do think that the converter should help "decrease or increase" the power supply to fit the appropriate ammount! Kind regard from England/Norway!!! |

Have you tried using an external monitor?
Also please read this doc... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...77&lc=en&cc=us

Re: HP Graphic or display Trouble
Tried updating my Bios, and my comptuer was bought 2 years ago so i think i'm not eligable for free repair anymore, but recent discovering really makes me think it's something with the power supply. My labtop screwed up again today, and didn't go back on in several hours, but then when i tried a couple of times, and still didn't work i decided to try to boot it without power supply, just on the batteries, and then it worked fine immidiatly! So does anyone know what kind of thing i need to buy to make the power supply work properly, or what it's called other than a converter from european to british electricity outlets??

Re: HP Graphic or display Trouble
Check output of AC adapter to be sure... or you can use an HP adapter similar to yours borrowed from a friend perhaps. If you find out output is not correct, then consider getting a new one. I would recommend staying with brand to be sure (not getting the universal adapter).
