BSOD Problem

I'm currently trying to fix a friend's laptop which has BSOD.

CONFIG_LIST_FAILED

*** STOP: 0X00000073

Beginning Dump Of Physical Memory
Physical Memory Dump Complete

Vostro 1500, Windows XP, Dell, Laptop without Floppy.

Safe Mode does not work.

Have you tried Repair Install? This is using an XP install CD just like installing XP again but instead of doing an installation, select Repair Installation. This is different from Recovery Console.

I tried to follow a guide, but I was brought to a screen regarding partitions instead of the repair installation like the other guides showed. What do I do?
