Acer 9300 Inverter help

Hi

My screen on my acer 9300 has started to flicker off and will only come on after a white (getting longer). I can relight briefly using Fn F6.

Reading through this forum I have come to the conclusion that I will need to replace the inverter? External moniter works well.

Is this correct and is there a good step by step I could follow? (I have built a few pc's but have no experience of laptops).

i doubt its the inverter
more likely its the backlight
