USB device not recognized
I was away from the computer a few hours, returned to this error:
USB device not recognized "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it." The location is USB root hub (6 ports) and the one not working is "Unknown Device." In Properties for the device it says no driver was loaded or installed. I tried updating but Windows says the driver is up to date. This is just one of the several weird things happening with this machine. I've only had it 3 months. It's a Lenovo Y510. A few weeks ago, I repartitioned the drives. I've been running Zone Alarm, just switched back to the Windows firewall & downloaded Spybot. I appreciate any ideas or possible solutions. |

Re: USB device not recognized
1)What devices(usb) are attached to your pc?
2)Try re-connecting your device into a different usb port. 3)Try to first uninstall the drivers and then reinstall them. |

Re: USB device not recognized
Tawwat, in your case first thing is to connect your USB device directly to the laptop and check, instead of USB hub
secondly if windows try to search driver and ends up with msg"windows can not find driver for device" choose the option to give path for driver and with the help of BROWSE select following folder WINDOWS>SYSTEM32>DRIVERSTORE most probably your device will get the required driver files form this folder and will start working chao ! |

Re: USB device not recognized
paracha - Thanks for the advice but I don't have a USB Hub. So that makes the error message even stranger. Should I just ignore it or is this error message a symptom of something odd going on with the machine?
By the way, the modem for internet was added just recently. Could this be triggering a false error message? It uses the ethernet port. But all devices are working fine as far as I can tell. |
