Question hp laptop help

Ok i know it may be a little selfish taking over the thread for myself but i really need help
I have a HP Pavillion dv2618ca Notebook PC and my problem isreally quite the opposite of many other peoples problems my laptop overheats in a bout 30 minutes and ive come o the conclusion that its overheating because of my fan's very very low rpm sometimes my laptop is very hot and i barely even feel it running its completely silent but it doesnt work and ie tryed several things like ice packs 8 diffrent cooling maps propping a full sizedd room fan to the back of my laptop and all the same in roughly 30 minutes i was down to 4 fps from 56ish so i thought before i go and trade it in on get some hardware solutions i wanted to make sure that the chance of a software fix was completely out and so ive heard of programs like CHC and SpeedFan and Fanspeed (those are actually all ive tryed) and none of them work they can read my temp and all but they dont detect my fans and i cant take the computer apart my self ill take any suggestions you think would work and if you think a software fix is IMPOSSIBLE then please say so ive been looking for several weeks and no results so i really really need some help anything and everything is welcomed and apreciated thanx in advance and once again the more the marrier im really getting mad

Re: hp laptop help

Hi,

Have you tried cleaning the vents/heatsink/fan areas? Try using an air brush or a small air compressor or a can of compressed air, these can blow the dust out and help your laptop breathe easier. These unwanted materials block the air flow that even if you use a cooling pad with the largest fan you can find, the effect is almost the same.

If you are brave enough to open the laptop then it is good if you can clean the insides. But then again... this is not needed as long as you have blown out most if not all of the dust. Btw the dust can also make your fans run slower.. just imagine how it can spin fast if it is covered with dust and/or pet hair.

NHC and SPeedFan (AFAIK) cannot control the fans of laptops. They do help you see how high your temp gets.

One more thing.. if you are running on AC during these circumstances, remove your battery. A dying battery (those that are having problems charging) can sometimes heat up. The same with a fast hard drive. All these contribute to the total amount of heat released by the system.

Yep.. thru the vents and thru the fan. I spray thru the fan first (DO NOT use the straw/nozzle to poke inside... an inch or two from the laptop will do the job).
