may be hard drive ?

Hi all,and triggerfinger,on my toshiba nearly every time i want to load or down load something i get errors like .source file,nts,dll ,fat file ect could my hard drive be playing up because one day it will run fine then the next day i can get errors,i seem to be able to correct these problems but they come back when ever they feel like it,i was thinking about fitting a new hard drive but dont want to as its more money.i have reloaded windows cleaned and repaired hard drive loads off times but still get these probs

Hi Ray,

A failing hard drive can have that effect on your Windows installation. I suggest you run an HDD diagnostic tool. If you know the brand of HDD hooked up on your laptop, you can find its diagnostic tool from the brand's website (updated ones are here) or from the HDD Diags link on my sig.

Oh shoot.. you have a toshiba laptop, I guess you have a toshiba hard drive. Hmmm if that is the case use Maxtor/Seagate diagnostic tools from here:

I prefer the Seatools for DOS bootable CD image version.
