i need help badly acer laptop

hey i have a acer laptop i am, not sure which series it is to be honest i know it is 53xx something sorry.but i got a virus in it and instead of doing the virus removal i just went to restore it and when i put in the restore sick it didnt finish it shut down and when i restarted i got a error ntldr file missing i know that is a windows component cause the restore didn't finish but now i cant get it to stay on to install windows or finish my restore disc, it gets just a few minutes into the restore process and then shuts off after giving me a run time error... if any one knows what i am doing wrong please let me know some one is telling me it is my hard drive but i don't think so cause it worked fine until i started to restore it... my e mail is christy.tipton@gmail.com i know the battery is good and i have it pluged in to so that isnt why it is shutting off but i need help like sooo badly it is driving me crazy thanks ya'll so much

Do you have a reinstallation cd?

You can run diagnostics on the hard drive to rule out or confirm drive failure . . Depending on the Brand . .

i do have the installation cd but it doesnt lod all the way it get just about 3 minutes into the restore process and just shuts off. i even tried my windows xp cd does the same thing gets in the middle and the laptop shuts off

I would run the drive diagnostics and Memtest86 to test the memory ( link in my signature)

Hello every one ok i looked at my laptop it is a acer aspire 5040 windows XP home. so if any one has any ideas for me that would be great cause i really think these guys down here are just gonna rip me off wanting to charge me 200.00 to restore it hell i got the restore disc and windows xp disc so i can do that my self but they just want to get paid for helping me guess... if you think you know the problem i cna offer my phone number if you need to walk me though a process of fixing the error and such thanks all

can i run this test when it wont start up to windows. i get nothing but a black screen that says ntldr missing

Yes they both will boot themselves from a CD disk

I would scan the system with current virus definitions. Using whatever AV program your using. Boot up in safe mode if you cant do this regular boot up. also a good malware remover would come in handy.

how do i get it to go into safe mode, i can usualy do it on any other laptop but this acer i cant figure it out

You get to safe mode by tapping F8 immediately after turning on.

upon reading your post again...I didnt realize the true nature of the problem was a missing file. I did a little research on this boot file and you may want to give this a try.

this person covers this type of error in depth and should defuse this issue on your machine.
