Audio buffers .....911....Help

Its been a week and a half now.......Not Sure if its a sound card issue,
Hard disk Space issue....or What............
Audio Buffers really Bad in Cubase, itunes, etc. thought it was the Omega
interface at first but does the same when I switched back to the internal
Realtek sound device........
I've tried every thing I can think off. Updating driver,Defrag, Disk and registry clean up....and getting rid of files to free up harddrive space
to help laptop run faster......Seems to have gotten better but not
back to 100%........
I have a Toshiba satellite a105-s4084,Win xp with Intel core duo
processor T2050, 1024Mb DDR2 SDRAM, 120GB(5400rpm)HDD
I had only 29gigs of free space avail. when prob. started. Now
after disk cleanup, and file manag. I'm Up to 36gigs of free space
Is this still not enough disk space to run Programs with out Audio glitches
Im running Cubase with the lexicon omege interface.........
I've ran virus scans also nothing major shows up........
Please help I'm In mid of Production and have deadlines and gigs
coming forward...................

Re: Audio buffers .....911....Help

Hi,

I am trying to understand what you mean. Kindly elaborate in more simple terms what the problem is. Is it a bad sound, slow performance ? I really apologize but to my understanding you are not getting the quality sound that you expect.

Re: Audio buffers .....911....Help

Is this the sound coming from the speakers itself? If so, have you tried a headset and notice any difference? Does it happen for a specific application only?

Assuming this is performance related, may be you can start with testing your RAM and HDD for any hardware errors. Run Memtest86+ for RAM. I know this sounds far fetched but you have to rule out hardware errors so you can focus on drivers or Windows or application programs.

Re: Audio buffers .....911....Help

First know your HDD brand (yes the one that you are using). In the HDD Diags link on my sig download that brands bootable CD version. Use Nero or ImgBurn to burn the image into a blank CD. DO NOT COPY DIRECTLY to CD as that would not work. The same with Memtest86+. See the link on my sig., get Memtest86+ and burn (same procedure) to a blank CD.

Btw these are bootable CDs. Therefore you can use them to boot your laptop. The diags will automatically run and does not have to be in Windows.

Re: Audio buffers .....911....Help

None that I know of with Memtest. On the HDD diagnostic however if your drive fails during a test then it could mean a total data loss.
