XP not loading
Hi,
I am gettin very annoyed with this problem, my mate's laptop will not boot up in normal mode, safe mode (this freezes @ agpCPQ.sys file) enable VGA mode or anything, i have updated the BIOS this has done nothing, i have tried 2 recover this did not work, i am now asking for some help as mi IT Technician brain is fried |

Have you tried using the recovery console (boot from XP disk) and run "fixboot"?

yh i have tried this it said not possible to complete or summit like tht, n now it not even loading the xp disk i put it in the drive will start auto running, n then will error up n i have 2 press any key to restart

You understand that you have to BOOT from the CD and enter the recovery console by pressing 'R" at the first screen that wants input from you, yes? From your last post it sounds like you are trying to run the CD from within Windows - this is NOT what you want. Booting from the CD shouldn't pose any problem as you are not using the hard drive to boot. You may have to change the boot order in BIOS setup so that the CD drive is the first boot device.
Are you using a genuine XP CD?

yh i understand tht i have to boot from cd, and i cant even get into windows so cant run it withing windows, unfortunialy i dont have a genuine XP CD

unfortunialy my friend has lost this, i had a look on the packard bell website and got the recovery disk for F5 series which he has got, it either comes up with non bootable cd or sometimes it detects the cd and start to loads and bluescreens

you usually put the disk in and press an F key during the boot process
they are rarely bootable they are a recovery disk that works in conjunction with a restore partition
