Re: XP not loading

Have you tried using the recovery console (boot from XP disk) and run "fixboot"?

Re: XP not loading

You understand that you have to BOOT from the CD and enter the recovery console by pressing 'R" at the first screen that wants input from you, yes? From your last post it sounds like you are trying to run the CD from within Windows - this is NOT what you want. Booting from the CD shouldn't pose any problem as you are not using the hard drive to boot. You may have to change the boot order in BIOS setup so that the CD drive is the first boot device.

Are you using a genuine XP CD?

Re: XP not loading

unfortunialy my friend has lost this, i had a look on the packard bell website and got the recovery disk for F5 series which he has got, it either comes up with non bootable cd or sometimes it detects the cd and start to loads and bluescreens

Re: XP not loading

you usually put the disk in and press an F key during the boot process
they are rarely bootable
they are a recovery disk that works in conjunction with a restore partition
