Re: Asus a8 f8 disk read error

you download the iso version and burn it to disk as a iso
you set the laptop to boot from cd first
then boot from the disk

I downloaded the above burned to disk

Bit it did not boot from the disk just keeps going to the message a read error has occurred.
Any ideas please?

Looks like I have to go get a USB stick as I do not have floppy drive.
Lastly could you just tell what the difference is between the text and graphical is?

Well I tried booting from USB but it just goes to the message again.Should I have
boot sector virus protection enabled or disabled? as it shows disabled.

Hi,

How did you burn the ISO image to a blank CD? You should use Nero or ImgBurn to be able to do this successfully. If you just burn the ISO directly to the CD (using Windows 'Write these files...' then it would not work). Try ImgBurn. Install it in a PC with CDRW. Download the ISO file. Right click on the ISO file and select 'Burn with ImgBurn'. That should do the job. Now take out the CD and boot your laptop from it. Changes should be made in BIOS settings to boot from the CD drive (see boot sequence).

Get the ISO image of SeaTools for DOS here:
http://download.seagate.com/seatools...f/eula/desktop

Tutorial for the tool:

Yup I have read what daisaid... I am thinking if that should NOT work for you, then try the ISO again. That is the reason I posted the tutorial page.

I guess but I am not so familiar with the program. I think it works like Nero too so there should be no problem. If you have that then try it, it might work.. if not you lost ONE CD media.

If that fails try ImgBurn, it's a FREEWARE so you can just use it and uninstall it afterwards if you don't like it.

I bought a new dvd-R and burned data disk made dos to boot from cd drive 1st priority. But all it does is just go to the read disk error screen.

Did you use the tool (ex. ImgBurn) I told you to use? If not then there must be something wrong with downloaded file or how you burned the image into the blank CD/DVD.
