Verticle & horizontal lines
I have a dell laptop. I formatted it 3 days ago. It seemed to running fine I was able to get on the internet. However there had been some issue with the the resolution but my son resolved it. I left it alone and did not realize it was not turned off. It was packed in a briefcase and in the course of being transported the case fell. When I opened the laptop it turned on the there were the lines. Is the LCD broken or is it something else. When i rebooted the laptop i have this msg: the application failed to initialize properly (0x0000135)click ok to terminate application

Re: Verticle & horizontal lines
Hi,
The lines could mean that the LCD has gone bad. Boot to safe mode and see. Also try it with an external monitor if it behaves the same. About the message... sometimes this is temporary. It could be one of your programs in startup.

I have a Dell as well insperion 9300 / B1300 w/ a 17" LCD. I notice just on line several weeks ago, then a few days later two lines now there are 4 lines running verticle down the left side of the screen. I did a check on the LCD and I got all the colors and bars then hooked it up to an external LCD and there were lines in the external screen. I am guessing that my mother board is going. I would say the video card but they are integrated. Am I correct in my assumption? I know the old saying about ***_u_ming but I was an O level aviation electronics tech in the Navy and w/ the process of elimination that would be my guess. I know mother boards for the B1300 run about $280. "What say ye?"

Re: Verticle & horizontal lines
Check the manual if yours has a separate video card that plugs into the motherboard. If so, then may be you can try replacing the GPU first.
