Acer Laptop blank screen, won't connect to external monitor.

Hi, I have an Acer Travelmate 290, and the acer support forums are non existent, as apparently are its call centre crew.

The laptop was switched on and i had msn/firefox running, and the screen suddenly went blank. I tried to run a diagnostic the same way i'd done with my dell laptop, but this did not work, neither did connecting it to an external monitor. I also checked the battery which seemed to be working fine.

When i reboot the laptop, I can hear that it's running as seemingly normal, but nothing appears on the screen, not even faintly, it'scompletely blank.

I can give specs as required, I was on OS windows XP.

if anyone can shed some light on it, i'd be really grateful

Try removing battery and AC adapter. Press power ON button for 30secs. Put back battery and plug the AC adapter back in. Power ON as normal.

Also if you want to test with an external monitor, attach it before powering ON the laptop. Try Fn + F5 (not so sure, just a guess to toggle to external display).
