Laptop got turned off during a service pack update for Vista

Well as the post says , My Laptop got turned off during a service pack update for Vista.
It was on stage 2 of the update when it just lost power.
Now everytime I turn it on I get this error message along with a blue background ( not the bsod )
" A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components , restart your computer , press F8 to select advanced startup options , and then select safe mode.

Technical information:
( three wierd symbols ) STOP : 0x0000C1F5 (0x00000000 , 0x00000000 , 0x00000000 , 0x00000000 ) "

Ok, when I start in safe mode it says loading windows files and stops at " crc disk " or something like that.

I am using a Compaq presario V6000 running on Windows Vista Home premium.

I need a solution to fix this problem , I will do anything not to lose the files I have on my laptop , I have around 50 gigs of stuff on it.

Please help me out here , any solutions GREATLY appreciated.

Have you tried System Restore to an earlier time.. before the updates were made? See here: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...4be5e1033.mspx

No , I can't figure out how to do it.
I can't even log onto my profile.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
Any idea's how to access it without logging on?

Try the steps on this page (see bottom part of the page):

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...e1033.mspx#EVD

If still no go, may be you need the Vista install CD/DVD or the Vista recovery CD/DVD.

Re: Laptop got turned off during a service pack update for Vista

Ok, have another question really quick.
Is there any way to get all my files onto an external hard drive or anything ?
As in , is there any possible way to save all my files?

Yes, move the HDD into an enclosure and connect it to another PC via USB. From there you can get your files.

EDIT:
Try also the steps here: Laptop Recovery Instructions
